Quilting and Sewing Group

Our quilting and sewing group dates back to our original church building (before 1947) on Genoa road. In 2001, the last two quilters retired but a few of the “younger" women still wanted to quilt.  Others said they didn’t quilt but could make comforters for people in wheelchairs… and so a new generation began.

Members and non-members alike may bring quilt tops that they, or someone else, have put together and our group charges a modest fee for the hand quilting. All income from this goes to the missions and ministries of our United Methodist Women’s group. The material for the comforters and baby quilts is donated and these are given to Battered Women’s Workshop, Salvation Army, Massillon Homeless Shelter and any other need that arises.  For Easter and Christmas we make an ornament or wall hanging for our shut-ins.

We have ladies that prefer to knit ‘Prayer Shawls’ and some work on them at home. Yarn for the Prayer Shawls can be picked up at the Thursday meetings.

We meet in the church basement fellowship hall each Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (or as long as you can stay), bring lunch, have good fellowship and of course we try to solve all the problems of the world!

There are no age requirements. Members have ranged in age from 12 to 90+ so feel free to join in and have some fun.

  4. Many people seem to believe that to be "temperate" simply means to use bad things in moderation. But what to be "temperate" really means is: use none of the bad; and only use the good in moderation. bible diet
